You don’t need any Jedi powers to see some new footage from the making of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We’ve got it right here!

Following on from the various announcements already made about the expanded Star Wars universe, fans at San Diego Comic-Con could have been forgiven for thinking there were no more surprises left when director J.J. Abrams took to the panel for The Force Awakens.

Joining Abrams were the stars of the movie, including the original trio of Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford.

Ford was making his first public appearance since the plane crash he was involved in which left him with a broken ankle and pelvis.

‘I’m fine. I walked here so how bad can it be?’ the 72-year-old told the 6000 attendees.

Newcomers Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson and Gwendoline Christie were also in attendance, with fans understandably excited to see the cast together for the first time.

Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and writer Lawrence Kasdan were up on stage too.

The real treat for fans came in the form of the spine-tingling behind the scenes look at the new film, which Mark Hamill (reprising the role of Luke Skywalker) introduces by saying:

‘Real sets. Practical effects. You’ve been here but you don’t know this story. Nothings changed really… I mean everything’s changed but nothings changed.’

Simon Pegg features in the Comic-Con reel, and is barely able to contain himself. As a self-confessed fan of the series, he can be seen smiling in a costume of some some sort.

‘Star Wars. I burn for Star Wars…’ he says, sweating in a heavy-looking outfit.

The film won’t be released for a few months yet, but expect plenty more excitement before this one is out.
