Have you ever been purposely ignored on a forum before? Or... felt as if someone, or a group of members, were just overlooking your posts? I've noticed it a lot lately on numerous forums. Basically, most of the time, it's a forum has a group of members, mostly staff, who only talk to one another and that's really it.

Hmm... Not really.

But yeah if the staff wouldn't be making me feel welcome, I'd just leave.

I'll admit that I have ignored people on purpose & I know it just irked them and got under their skin.

Not on this forum but other forums that I am a regular member of.

I do notice there are groups of members on some forums that just keep to themselves and seldom talk to other members. And it's not just position having things to do with it.

Some forums, especially the busy ones, tend to overlook the newbies, who most of the time aren't around long, but their leaving is influenced somewhat by that fact.

yes...recently..............not sure if it was deliberate just the way people are on the forum.....................a model making forum that specialises in armour......all very talented people, i joined so i could learn from them..................seemed everytime i posted anything only one person (who is a mod funny enough) made comment.....i even chatted viia pm with him about it and he agreed with me about it.............its funny that other threads got lots of comments...............ive come to realise that if you are in 'the gang' of people on there you are fine..........since its got to the point where im about to delete my profile, i mentioned it in open chat............even had the site owner and others say sorry...........BUT still didnt bother to go and look at my stuff and make a comment!...................

...........there loss, not mine cos i can do without it, i can easily lurk there to learn what i want, and stay at ther forums where i know people are freindly

At most times I feel snubbed when entering new communities. It's hard for me to join new sites because it's like starting all over again. I do believe that sometimes it's not intentional though. However it still makes one feel left out whether you intended to make that person feel that way or not.

I try my best to respond to most people's, if not everyone's post on my own forum. However, yeah I have gone for weeks or months without having a reply made to a topic I created before. No biggie, really.

It has happened to me on one particular forum. The staf have their favorites and will only respond back to them. They would go out of their way to quote an older post just to let me know they had no intention of acknowledging what I posted. They not only did it to me but to other members too that weren't part of their clique. Needless to say, I left and so did other members who were considered Top Posters. I often visit the forum (as a guest) and get satisfaction when I see there are now only staff and a handful of posters left. I blame the absence of Admin who allowed the staff to ruin a forum that was once very active and friendly.

I remember I joined a forum some time back and got snubbed.

I posted my 'Introduction' thread to say hi to everyone

and also posted in some other topics. Not one person,

not even the Admin, replied to anything I'd posted.

It was like I'd never joined - so I left.

To be honest, this is also why I enjoy posting on smaller forums rather than big active ones. Smaller forums allow you to interact with all members. You don't get much of an opportunitiy to do this on bigger forums.

The only time I get ignored is when I post in a very busy forum. Sometimes I get overlooked here though

Yeah, on bigger forums your topic does get looked at eventually, but it takes a while. Smaller forums it gets looked at right away.

I haven't been on very big forums really. Other than this one. So I haven't really been ignored.

I've tended to ignore entire forums and various threads on them when those on it begin name calling and flaming each other.

And if somebody tries to flame me I just ask them if they know who, and what, I am, and if really want to start a war of words with me.

I hate to admit it, but there were people's posts I used to overlook on other forums. Now that's changed, but I mean, if someone if posting constant rubbish, you just tend to.

I don't think the reverse has ever happened to me. Maybe I just haven't noticed.

I totally agree with this. The smaller communities tend to be closer and more person-focused.

I have been ignored before, especially on big support forums where most of the perks are designed to go to long-time members or members with big status in the community. And like Jazzy said sometimes your posts would get ignored because they think a fresh member doesn't have anything worth saying.

And especially with arguments. If you're the new guy you can't expect anyone to back your side even if you are making a strong point. If you have a complaint or argue with a staff member or senior member it's almost like you're praying for the banhammer.

There was one forum that was/is popular, I did feel like I was being ignored. I can honestly say I will not go back there again... plus, one of the mods was kind of nasty towards things he didn't like.
