My daughter loves betty boop. She has a few DVD's, a poster in her room. We were at the mall a few weeks ago in a gift shop type store and she seen this doll:

She has been begging me (and her mom apparently) for it for weeks.

Yesterday I finally bought it for her and I posted a picture of her holding it on facebook.

Here are the comments:

My daughter's mom: I told her that if she saved her money up she would be able to get it she already has 23 dollars saved she needs to learn the value of a dollar and what it means to work for something.

Me: K

One of my mom's friends: your mom is smiling from heaven, your a good dad, she loves betty boop just like your mom

Me: Thanks =)

Another one of my mom's friends: I can see she looks like you. Betty seems to like your daughter too from the way she's looking at her. (btw, there's still plenty of time to learn the value of a dollar).

Seems like her mom needs to communicate with me if she having our daughter save up for something instead of getting upset at me for buying her something after the fact.

Seems like a lack of communication on both sides to me. If you had a cell phone, all you had to do was call mom and ask if you could buy this. I know you love your daughter and want to give her things to make her happy. I can also see the other side of the coin where mom is trying to teach her the value of earning before spending. All this would have taken was a simple phone call to keep both sides happy.

I'm not going to call her every time I buy my daughter something. If it were a big deal, she would have told me.

I guess she just told you from her response on Facebook.

Yeah after the fact. Lol

Anyway, my daughter loves her new toy. The tail comes off and it has regular legs under neath. Most of her doll dress's fit her new doll so she's been playing with it non stop since yesterday.

She staged a battle between Betty Boop mermaid and Ariel from the Little Mermaid to see who was the Queen mermaid.

Betty Boop mermaid won then took off her tail and said You can be the queen mermaid, I'd rather be a person instead of a fish

It was pretty entertaining. Imaginations are fun.

I was not suggesting you ask about everything you buy for your daughter. What I meant was if she's saving up for something special then you and her mom need to communicate.

She got out early from school yesterday and her mom took her to come visit me at work (really the mom just wanted her support check for the month).

First thing my daughter says to me How's betty boop doing?

lol
