As a hobby,

Do you enjoy bird watching?

How many specieshave you seen? (if you had to guess)

What is your favorite bird to watch?

I love bird watching! And (trying to) photograph them.

I honestly don't know how many species I've seen. Lots.

I grew up with a purple martin house in my backyard so they're one of my favourite birds. I also like brightly coloured birds like blue jays and cardinals. The goldfinch is my nemesis because I can't seem to get even a decent photograph of one and that aggravates me.

I do enjoy birdwatching, or did when we lived in the stix & there were lots of different kinds of birds that would show up regularly there.
Now, in town, I only see occasionally a few quail, crows and sparrows. We put up a Kestrel house when we first got here and some House Wren houses, but no one has moved in yet.
So now most of my birdwatching has been on the "net". :coffee: Most recently, there are some pretty cool Osprey nest live-cams in Montana that I've been addicted to. Really fascinating raptors! :D

On-and-off on bird watching. I've seen over 400 species. Favorite I think is the screech owl.

I always felt like it would be a hobby I would enjoy. Sadly, I have never had time to invest in it. So maybe one day.

I don't do it formally, but now that I have a tree outside the window of my home office, I find myself doing it. There's a flock of small songbirds in that tree right now and I am curious about what they are up to.

Of course, the fact that we are now fairly certain they are a surviving branch of the theropod dinosaurs certainly upped my interest over the years. The dino-obsessed kid in me loves the idea that I am watching actual dinosaurs out my window.

I live in the woods, so there are plenty of birds to see. Hawks, owls, eagles, woodpeckers, flickers, robins, crows, ravens, osprey, hummingbirds, chickadees, towhees, juncos, finches, to name a few. I know there are tons more.

The Merlin app is really cool - if you can go download that to your smartphone, it will help you recognize birds in your area. You can even turn on the sound recorder in the app when a bird is singing, and the app will help identify it.
