WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- A Walmart store announcement ordering black people to leave brought chagrin and apologies Wednesday from leaders of the company, which has built a fragile trust among minority communities.

A male voice came over the public-address system Sunday evening at a store in Washington Township, in southern New Jersey, and calmly announced: Attention, Walmart customers: All black people, leave the store now.

This just sickens me that this prejudice still exists today. IMO, all men are created equal. There is (IMO) no apology that would be acceptable. This is just another reason why I would never patronize Walmart.

You cannot point the fingers at the company just because of an renegade employee's unacceptable behavior... It's nearly impossible for the company to control each and every employee's actions... Only the person that did it should be the blamed one, not the actual company (even though they did apologized simply because the person was one of their employees)... I'm sure that the person got punished, such as got terminated or some sorts which is acceptable to do...

Maybe you would feel differently if you read the whole story: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/17/wal-mart-investigating-so_n_502338.html

Or this http://www.aboutlawsuits.com/wage-and-hour-lawsuits-against-wal-mart-settled-2211/

What I'm not seeing in any of these articles is if they have the means to find exactly who did it, or if they have in any matter. I believe you can't find out exactly who used what PA system, but there's cameras everywhere spying on your every move... SUPPOSEDLY.

The fact is, a single employee did something unacceptable and people are pointing the finger at the actual company and the big wigs that run it instead of the actual person that did the unacceptable action...

Truth is they're having a hard time finding out who it was:

Any of the 25 in-store telephones could have accessed the public address system, although not all phones are within range of surveillance cameras, authorities said. It's unclear whether the tape will be made public to help identify the speaker. The store has 700 employees; many are part-time. Some of the store's telephones can be accessed by customers

So all we can do now is use this chance to put Wal-Mart on blast until they reveal his identity. THEN he can get shot.

I hope that person got fired.

I used to work for wal mart. I remember when someone got fired, on their way out they made a page over the intercom saying F**k wal mart and all its crack head customers!

Agreed with +prince. It's too early to jump into conclusions. We'll just have to wait and see.

Stupid words = getting shot? Sorry, the punishment doesnt fit the crime.

Do you think wal mart is afraid of being put on blast ?

They are the largest retalier in the world. Their prices are so low that the average income person or low income people have to shop there if they want to get the most for their money.

Its common knowledge that wal mart's products are made in sweat shops in china by children or adults who work 18 hours a day at pennys an hour/ People still shop there.

Wal Mart CEO could throw a baby in front of a train on live national television and people would still shop there.

Sad..
