Blame parents for child obesity

Whether or not it's "acceptable", I find myself doing it. Especially when standing in the grocery line behind such families, where mom and dad are the size of a double-wide and they're buying frozen pizzas, Kraft macaroni-and-cheese, and 12 12-packs of soda for their family's next week's worth of meals.

Yeah..."medical condition", my ass.

Yes, especially when it comes to smaller children. They don't have jobs, they don't have money to buy healthy food, and their parents should be the ones teaching them what to eat to be and remain healthy. It is 100% the parents' fault, but when the child grows old enough to purchase their own food and make their own decisions, then it's partly on them and no longer an excuse.

Of course, it is the duty of a parent to raise their child healthy.

Of course the parent will want to blame MacDonald's and Burger King etc.... It couldn't be the parents fault for stuffing their kids with crap food right?!!

Yes, the parents are to blame. It's not only the unhealthy food these children are being fed. A lot of children nowadays are living potato lifestyles - watching TV, playing video games and surfing the Internet all of which are also a contributing factor.

Do you think it's acceptable to blame parents for child obesity? Why / Why not?

It depends. Its not always the parents or the child's fault.

Some times parents could be enabling a child to over eat, other times its just a thyroid problem or something completely different.
