Jed Mildon, 24, became the first person to to do a triple backflip on a BMX bike at the weekend despite believing he was going to die doing it.
The New Zealander performed three full backwards rotations on his bicycle after riding down a 20-metre ramp and then up a 3.6-metre ramp to get airborne.
Afterwards he said: I actually had a dream three months ago that I was going to die soon and I thought this was the day, so I just committed 100 per cent and went for [the stunt] and, look, it came out good. Everyone's smiling, so I'm stoked.
Kiwi Mildon had kept the stunt a partial secret before producing it in front of 2,000 unwitting spectators, and a representative from the Guinness Book of World Records, at the Unit T3 Mindtricks event at Taupo Skate Park in New Zealand.
The impact and implications hasn't sunken in yet, but I'm so pumped to have aimed for something once deemed impossible and made my dream a reality, said a thrilled Mildon.
The 24-year-old had spent three months in intensive training preparing for the world record attempt.
