When I was a teenager, internet was in expansion at the time, like real boom, something wow. I recall having dial up connection and it took like minute to load an image and download it. And I felt awesome when I could change my wallpaper thanks to that invention. Forums were the best places to hang around and that was the golden era of forums. Nowdays, everything is transformed to social media where content is quite short (20 sec to 1 minute). You just keep scrolling and scrolling, new content keeps coming and you waste your life. No more meaningful communication, just dumb videos of people eating food (ASMR) or doing dumb challenges.

I don't know in what phase of internet development you are guys, but how you look upon internet inovattion itself?

It's a tool.

You wouldn't let a nine year old go out in the back yard and play with a circular saw and power drill would you? He might build you a picnic table, but it is more likely you'll be spending the afternoon looking at old magazines in the emergency room's waiting area.

Meaningful content is out there, you just have to get off the 'social sites' to find it.

I would suggest starting here:

Get off my lawn!

We used to joke about how much technology went into creating a method to watch cat videos.

The Internet is a world-changing foundation. I feel we are both at the end and at the beginning still. Cat videos and porn and scams where you put money down for a dog that doesn't exist and scams focusing on job hunters and scams focusing on the bored elderly. And honest-to-god propaganda that is altering people's minds and turning the volume up on hatred, encyclopedic truth that changes by the hour. Somewhere out there are truths and maybe even THE truth but nobody is able to separate the wheat from the chaff. Online banking and online insurance and online commerce and the occasional cat video and hitler references no longer end a conversation but instead bring vocal support. And books. And art. And match making that leads to online honeymoon planning, pregnancy testing and advice, divorce attorneys. Online drugs online erectile disfunction meds online abortion pills AI generated young girls AI generated scams and conspiracies and templates to create forums and places to sell beanie babies and places to buy used panties. Online mental health diagnosis. And somewhere out there is a dark web to find, when all of this gets dull.

The Internet is a foundation to bring out the best and worst in us all. I hope we can focus more on the best.
