A motorist has been hailed a hero after luring an escaped lion into the back of his car in Kuwait.

The man spotted the lion prowling the streets of Kuwait city's upmarket Bayan suburb, reports The Mirror.

He trapped the beast inside the vehicle by slamming the door, then jumped inside, too, and phoned police.

But the young adult male lion became angry and started to rip up the interior.

Officers managed to transfer the beast into the back of a police car and delivered it to Kuwait's Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources.

A police source said: "The passer-by sat inside the car with it but then the situation became dangerous."

The cub is said to have escaped from the home of a rich owner in the Gulf state, where exotic pets are considered status symbols.

A police spokesman said: "People must be very cautious when they select the animals they want to keep as pets in their homes."

Umm, glad he caught it but sitting inside the car with it was stupid (IMO).

Yeah, he could have easily trapped the animal in the car and called Animal Control or whatever to takeover from there.

*face palm*

It REALLY makes me concerned for some humans when they do things like this.. -__- I mean, I guess it's good that he had caught the lion in the car.. but seriously. Do you NOT know how dangerous a lion can be? Even a cub could rip your face off, and shoving it in a car and sitting in there like you are going to go out on a dinner date is just stupid.

I'm glad the lion is OK though.
