Technically it’s government endorsing fighting back not vigilantism. But vigilantism definitely works! If criminals know there is a good chance they can be killed for committing a certain crime it’s not going to happen as much.

Vigilantism makes a mockery of the criminal justice system because if people start taking the law into their own criminals will start whatever self-restraint they might've still had while committing a crime and just go all the way to Murder-1 because why not?

What makes a mockery of the Justice system is when a government can’t or won’t do it themselves. I’ll take this over not being able to fight back any day.
