Britain's 'original neighbour from hell' dies in her sleep, aged 84

Dorothy Evans, one of the oldest people in Britain to ever be handed an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO), died peacefully in her sleep.



Despite living in a smart £300,000 house in a tree-lined street, in Abergavenny, South Wales, she is said to have ruined her neighbours' lives for years.



The widow swore at them, dropped her underpants, and terrified their children saying she was a witch and would cast a spell on them.



She was also said to have growled like a dog and took a sledge hammer to a party wall in a feud against her next door neighbours.



She was the oldest person in Wales ever to be given an ASBO and was then jailed for breaching it.



Judge Nicholas Cooke even banned her in 2008 from going within a mile of her home of 41 years, to give the neighbours a break from their eight year running feud.



He said at the time: She is nearly 83 years old and has been given a prison sentence in the past but it hasn't deflected her from this sort of behaviour.



I will impose an ASBO excluding her from the part of Abergavenny which has been her home for more than 40 years.



It is heavy sentence but I can think of nothing else that will stop this offending.



Last October she was back at Cardiff Crown Court accused of further breaches of her numerous ASBOs but was too ill to stand trial.



The white-haired pensioner died at her home in Abergavenny last week of natural causes.



A neighbour said: I hope she rests in peace and that we can spend the rest of our lives in peace.
