The owner of Fulham says that fans of his football club can just go to hell if they don't like the latest addition to the gardens outside West London's Craven Cottage stadium.
That, of course, would be the 7-foot-6-inch statue of Michael Jackson that club owner Mohamed Al Fayed unveiled before a Premier League match against Blackpool on Sunday.
Football fans love it, Al Fayed said before the match. If some stupid fans don't understand [and] appreciate such a gift that this guy gave to the world ... they can just go to hell.
Al Fayed says he considered Jackson a personal friend, but for most Fulham supporters the King of Pop's only link to the club is his attendance as an honored guest at a match in 1999. Some fans say that hardly justifies the $162,000 plaster statue double-coated with all-weather varnish.
