British Muslims suffer worst job discrimination in the UK
New research has shown that Muslims experience the worst job discrimination compared to to any other minority in the UK.

Compared to male British Christians, British Muslims are 76 per cent less likely to have an comparable job.

Dr Nabil Khattab, from Bristol University, who co-authored the research said: ‘They are perceived as disloyal and as a threat rather than just as a disadvantaged minority.

‘Within this climate, many employers will be discouraged from employing qualified Muslims, especially if there are others from their own groups or others from less threatening groups who can fill these jobs.’

British Jews were the only minority to have better job prospects than White British Christians.

White British men and women without religion were found to be 20 percent and 25 percent worse off than white British Christians.

Dr Khattab along with his colleague, Professor Ron Johnston, made these conclusions using extensive data from the Office for National Statistics’ Labour Force Survey.

Well, if they are 'true' Muslims (take from that what you will) then there will be various times of the working day in which... they won't be working. Because of the various customs their religion observes. Meanwhile, the only custom a Christian would really have is go to church on Sunday. No prayer mats, no fasting, no facing a specific direction while talking to your sky-friend. So I can certainly see it, especially with smaller companies/local employers.

Funny, as we usually take no longer than say a smoker takes a smoke break...and do less frequently. Maybe twice during working hours.

My boss has been nothing but accommodating to my prayer times. But he's a pretty reasonable guy.

There are no smoke breaks where I work. If you're working an 8-hour or longer shift you get one 15-minute break for eating or whatever, that's it. I think it's fair.
