Are you one of them? Do you do it often? Or even at all?

Do you suck up to your boss? Teachers? BF/GF/Spouse?

If so, why? To get something you want or does it just come natural?

I do it once in a while, Its better to be on everyones good side than their bad side. I don't do it to get something though.

Have you ever got caught brown nosing?

Example:

A: i LOVE that tie!

B: I hate this tie, my wife made me wear it.

A: Yeah, that tie isn't so great.

B: I thought you just said you loved it.

A: Uh... Um....

Well in regards to that example, yeah I guess so =P

I often tell people things they want to hear that isn't exactly true, but if I said everything I was thinking I just wouldn't make it in this world

I suck up to teachers I like. But not excessively because I don't much like making an effort to do that. I will admit to reading a book I know my teacher likes/has recommended so that they will see it. But since I am also somewhat psychopathic I will also tell anyone anything for self-gratification, or simply for selfish purposes like getting them off my back.

I try to avoid conflict by agreeing, because once I step back and see it through their perspective, I tend to gradually agree or support their decision, because it may not be my ideal choice or decision, but if they seem confident in it, why bring them down? I've been called a suck up before, because I have a normal relationship with my teachers. I discuss my work with them, maybe ask them what they thought about the Alabama game (one teacher is a HUGE Bama fan), or anything really. I do not treat a teacher any different than I would any other adult or friend. Just because you have a friendship/relationship with a teacher or boss does not mean you're a suck up, it means you're personable. I do not expect to be treated better or get on the teacher's side, but I do not argue if a teacher likes me and gives me good grades.

Sucking up is good at times, yet you should know your limits. Being honest is usually the best way to go though.

MOM: Do I look fat?

Son: Not at all

MOM: Really, I don't?

Son: Just kidding! You're as fat as a cow!!

WRONG! When a woman asks that question, you reply You look fine or You look good

Proved wrong.

Do you really want to tell your mom that she is fat as a cow though? Sometimes ones feelings are best to take into consideration.

Lol Just kidding

Seriously? I may not know a lot about the ladies, but I know you never mention anything about her weight or age. *thanks Princess!* That dialog between the mother and son was a joke, not true at all. I never would tell mom my that, because one she is skinny, and second, she thinks she is fat even though she is not. As you've said, I take others' feelings into consideration, because even though I may disagree, I try to look at it as if I were them, that way I can find a better understanding, or at least find the nerve to support them, even if I disagree or believe otherwise.

I am not a suck up, but if I know for sure I am on somebody's shit list, I'll do what it takes to get off of the list.

Or her original hair color...lol--don't forget that one.

anyway, sometimes suck ups don't want to hurt your feelings, and sometimes they are simply afraid to express an opinion that might not be popular. Could be they are just so unsure of themselves that they don't want to get ridiculed for their opinion.

I try not to suck up--it is difficult sometimes, because when you have someone that you work with who is as great and kind and wonderful and honest and loyal and super and good-looking and intelligent and an all-around nice guy like Nebulous, you can't help but suck up a little.

Absolutely not.

To me there is nothing more pathetic than a brown-nosing suck-up; which is a pretty good indicator of ones own lack of character and honesty.

In the work-place, a brown-noser is usually a complete and total incompetent who recognizes that the only way they can try to keep their job is to suck up to their boss/supervisor.

In life, these are usually people who have embraced the political correctness bug and live in a fantasy world where truth is to be avoided at all costs.
