I'll admit that I do it but not too much.. Just enough to make my life easier.

I never suck up actually, don't get me wrong I am not above it, but I just don't do it. I have a tendency of saying whatever is on my mind.

Like if my boss told me to do something.. Then I thought in my head What an idiotic pointless poorly planned stupid task he wants me to do.

Should I tell him what I think?

At my job schmoozing the bosses counts for more than performance or competency.



It is not right, but that's how it works when the top two levels of the department are political appointees.



And yes, after being in this job for 12 years and 23 total with the State, I can say that.



And no, I don't schmooze bosses, I don't go to their social gatherings (recognition picnic, softball team, etc), and I was once ordered not to threaten to throw jellyfish at them when they come in and start telling us how great they are.

But on a job basic... Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. It varies..
