How do you feel about people who make a post and then a day or so later, they reply to that same post by just saying Bump! I have seen people do this and while I don't mind it on a general chat forum, on advertisement forums, when bumping up your forum, it is more often than not frowned upon and considered as spam. How do you guys feel about people doing this, and when do you feel it's appropriate on your own forums?

Depends on the subject. Doesn't bug me too much, unless it is just a link, or a game, etc. Like if it is an actual conversation, then go wild. I'd frown about someone bumping a spammy thread like one in fun and games. Lawl.

I would perfer they put something else in their thread like some stats but it's their own thread. They just have to apply to the bump rules and they can do whatever else they wish. I hardly ever say bump without some important info unless theres none to post.

I don't see the difference between bump and stats updates in an ad thread as I doubt anyone really cares about how much the stats have gone up on a board they aren't a member of. Also not everyone has news to post all of the time. A well established board that's small isn't going to have a lot of news going on in all honesty.

I remember Spreebb back when they were around had this really cool feature where a member can bump a thread without making a post much like how a mod can with the bump moderation tool after a certain amount of time set by the admin.

That's me as well. When I ran a forum, I just didn't go to my link and say Bump! Actually, I didn't do that. I would say something like, okay, these are our most recent stats updates or something like that. Although, yes, on a board with a topic that has no meaning to it (or not much of a meaning) it's fine to go bump wild then.

Well said! Don't most boards have that feature these days, though?

IF and ZB sure don't have the ability for a member to be able to bump threads in that manner. Can't speak for any other softwares though. You can bump as a moderator but as a member it's not possible without posting.
