I am sure you've all seen protests and riots where some angry people burn the flag of their country or another country.

Some see this as extremely disrespectful or even treason.

What are your thoughts on flag burning?

Burning a flag is the only acceptable way of disposing of it, but burning it in protest is wrong. Even if you don't like the country, respect the flag and ignore it. Obvious exception being something like the flags of old oppressive regimes, etc.

I don't like burning flags, but the fact you can shows we live in America and not some totalitarian state.

In fact, I heard a story that some German barber or something, simply mildly criticized German foreign policy during WWII and he was executed. 😳

I would never participate in a protest, nor show such disrespect towards any nations flag, symbol, or emblem.

It's just a piece of coloured cloth. It doesn't mean anything.

Rather than burning flags, politic measures must be done. There are lots of sanctions that could be applied for each situation.

A lot of veterans went thru great sacrifices, so the burning of flags is offensive to them personally.

I had some old high school buddies invite me to a party years ago and they told me they were going to do some flag burning. I opted out. It just felt like a big fat waste of my time.
