Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches worldwide

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 went on sale at midnight around the world, with sales expected to break records for a video game launch.



More than 13,000 shops around the world opened at midnight to sell the game, according to its producer, Activision.



The game is expected to sell as many copies in its first 24 hours as its rival, Battlefield 3, sold in its first week.



The previous title in the series, Call of Duty: Black Ops, sold 5.7 million copies worldwide in its first 24 hours on sale. Modern Warfare 3 is expected to sell around 6 million today and could reach 18 million by January, according to analysts.



The game begins where Modern Warfare 2 left off, with special forces protagonists pursuing Vladimir Makarov, a Russian terrorist, in cities including London, Paris and New York.



The game has been awarded an 18 certificate from the BBFC due to its graphic violence and real-world settings.

Nope scratch that. I'm not getting it. I read the plot and my favourite character dies

I'm not wasting £20+ on this.



This, folk is why I read the plot, spoiling it for myself, but I know if my favourite character dies or not and then I know if I'm going to play it again/or not.

I rented it. The multiplayer is pretty darn good.
