Calling 911

Have you ever had to call 911? Is so, why?

I have had to once. My mom and I were walking outside when out of no where these thugs started throwing rocks at us. We blew it off and thought they were trying to be funny. Well, on the way back from our walk, the thug on his bike threw it down and started to come over to us trying to fight us or something. My mom and I just kept walking and while we were walking I called 911 and I guess when he saw me calling he stopped, but the police showed up and we filed a report on him. Our neighbor was a witness and he too called the police when he saw it.

Never had to call emergency services for an emergency.... I guess that's a good thing.

I've never had to use 911, but I have dialed it a few times before.

Once when I was eight, I called a bunch of random numbers, pranking people by telling them their house was on fire and hanging up. At one point I took it too far and dialed 911, told them the prison was on fire and hung up, and about an hour later they showed up at our front door step and spoke with my mother. XD



Second time I was eleven, my friend dared me to dial 911 when we were over at a sleepover, it was like 2 o' clock in the morning lol. Stupidly I gave in and told them their was a guy shooting at the house. When they arrived, I told them the guy left and gave them a fake description of what he looked like, although I don't remember what it was.

Not trying to sound like a negative nancy, but isn't prank calling 9-1-1 in the US illegal?

Of course it is, but when you're a little kid they understand, and just have a brief talk with your parents.



The second time I must admit was worse, but I got away with it!

i called 911 once but i hung it up after one ring, i guess i was pranking but i was a little kid too. and they called immedietly back and my mother picked it up and i was so afraid they would come and arrest me.



a couple of weeks ago there was a lot of yelling from one of the neighbors and so my mother called the police becuase it sounded really bad.

I've had to call the fire brigade out twice when I was first on scene at fires. I've called the police a couple of times too, for different reasons. Ambulance, 3 times I think....all when my fiance was having severe asthma attacks.

I'm not sure what would happen if I called 911. Would I need to submit an area code?



I have never called 000 (Australian equivalent).
