Okay, looking just for a bit of explanation really. I've Googled but just can't find anything current.

What happens in the US with phone calls? I have a lot of friends in the US and from what I can understand in the US if somebody calls you it costs you? What's with that? And what are mobile phone contracts like out there? Do you have an allowance of minutes to spend on the phone altogether or what?

Here in England we only pay to make outgoing calls and only outgoing calls count on our bundles, I'm just confused is all.

Thanks 'muricans who can help :)

I have an unlimited plan and it doesn't cost me extra to answer the phone. :dontknow:

But it does cost some people to answer the phone, right? What's the idea with that?

I think if they are on a plan with a set amount of minutes, both people (the caller and the person who answered) get minutes deducted.

Not sure, I've always had an unlimited plan since I started owning a mobile phone. :P

I have a pay as you go phone. I add minutes when they start getting low. I get minutes deducted from calls I make, incoming calls and voicemail messages. The good thing is that I hardly ever use my phone.

I see, thanks Jazzy!

I guess this could explain why I see a lot of videos on YouTube of Americans getting especially angry at telemarketers. :D
