Yesterday the wife and I decide to shop Nissan and Ford to replace my Ford Transit that has a lot of miles on it. I am leaning towards the Nissan but this dealership even though we did not bring the old van and had no intentions of buying until next week were very annoying and pushy where you just want to put them in a headlock that puts them all to sleep. Luckily my wife is far more patient and plays the game of negotiating better then I could ever do without getting into someones face. She is the master at this kind of stuff.

The van was a new 2014 model from last year at $24,000 and has all the goodies I want AC, built in navigation control, stereo with blue tooth, rear view camera, etc. So they want to get the info on the old van even though they have not seen it and give me a estimated price and all that jive. When they hear I have a 795 credit score you could see the saliva dripping from the salesman's mouth. After the back and forth before running my credit she had the price down to $17,900. She then wants a ladder rack thrown in if we are going to do this deal and they say no sorry we can't. She says okay we are leaving and we make it into our car and the salesman's manager comes out and says we will give you the ladder rack. I am thinking this is a sweet deal and we are going back in. She says through the car window thanks we will think about it and come back latter. Ten minutes on the road and we get a call from the sales people that if we come back today only they will give it to us for $15,900. The reason we were not serious that day is because we had to pickup my wifes niece from the airport going back to college. The wife says we will go back tomorrow instead of tonight for the van. But I say they said today only for that deal. She says they will do the deal tomorrow and if not someone else will. Plus we will be tired and her being a accountant by trade like to read everything we need to sign with a fine tooth comb so it takes hours with the finance people every time.

I am a grunt that works with his hands and hate this kind of stuff. So today I have to go back to that land of hell to get my new van and I would almost rather have some kind of surgery done instead. Pick one I will trade!  :P

Hope it all works out and you get a good deal. :!:

Glad you have an expert negotiator on your team. :D

Thanks got back from the dealer a little while ago after 5 hours of being there. When they found out I have a 805 credit score that even I did not how fantastic it was they were ready to give me anything on the lot. Anyways got the van I wanted at the price we wanted. So hopefully will not be back to dealership for another 5 years.

Here is how hard it is to get in the 800 category.

Aiming for a perfect credit score might seem like you're trying to attain the unattainable, but hitting the coveted 850 FICO score isn't impossible. A dedicated few find a way to obtain it by taking such steps as acquiring and maintaining good financial behaviors, monitoring their credit, and using only a small percentage of their available credit each month.

Approximately 0.5 percent of consumers reach the 850 mark, according to a 2010 estimate by the Fair Isaac Corporation, creator of the widely used FICO credit scores. Although chances are slim of climbing to the top of the 300 to 850 range, there are many people who have made it over the 800 hump. In fact, FICO released a report in April that found 18.3 percent of consumers have a score in the 800 to 850 range—the highest percentage since October 2008.
