Well, let's see.
I'm the one that when they say "I buy them used and I'll drive it until the wheels fall off".... they mean it. I've had that happen.
I had the dashboard of a van catch fire While I was driving it. The inside lights didn't work after that, but I kept the van and still drove it. In fact, it was still running when I had to trade it in, because I'd been driving it with a blown head gasket for a couple of months.
Many years ago I had the trunk floor of one of my cars fall out when I hit a pothole. The cop that pulled me over gave me a ticket for littering, and he did so While Laughing.
No, I maintain my vehicles, changing the oil, putting new USED tires on them when needed, and so on. But I keep them long past any reasonable idea about the useful lifespan of the thing.
I've had cars get hit by lightning, one pickup truck had the alternator being held in by a bungee cord, another pickup had a driver's door that either wouldn't open when you wanted it to, or it would open at random WHILE the truck was moving.
The mechanic that used to do some work for me when I couldn't do whatever was needed told me they wouldn't take my current van into the shop to see what was wrong with the brakes because it was leaking gasoline out of the filler neck. "oh, yeah, it's been doing that, sorry". The connector had aged to the point where it was cracking. And the brakes? the brake lines had rusted through.
My record mileages for a vehicle when I finally gave it last rites is as follows, and remember I was, in some cases, the THIRD owner of these:
The 'van with the burning dashboard' Ford E-150: 300,000 miles PLUS (the speedometer finally quit too)
The truck with the bungee cord alternator, Chevy One Ton: 250,000 miles
"Lightning", Dodge Swinger: 200,000 +
The Litterbug Ford Falcon: 180,000
And so on. I'm not their first owner, but I am their Last owner.
My current van is pushing 100,000, it needs brakes, the driver's window will not go up, and the rear doors have a wicked sense of humor, BUT, it is still going.... ... usually.
And I've never had anything that would make me say Anything like this:

So, anybody else ever have an "interesting" vehicle?
