MIAMI (Associated Press) -- A judge in Miami will hear a challenge to the state's planned use of a new execution drug.

The Florida Supreme Court last month ordered the hearing in the case of 61-year-old Manuel Valle, convicted in the 1978 shooting death of Coral Gables police officer Louis Pena.

I know its gonna sound bad. But I don't see the problem with a killer feeling pain from a Lethal Injection drug.

It says the new drug renders a person 'unconcious' - then what ?

Being unconcious isn't 'dead'. Do they then give another injection

to finish the job ?

from what i understand they give them one injection to make them lose consciusness and then give a cocktail of other drugs which stop the heart etc

Didn't they .... you know use a damn electric chair before? Seems kinda silly to be knocking about a needle hurting whenever it's certainly a vast improvement, either way, I want the killer to feel pain.

If they don't feel it, isn't it more of a purge than a punishment?

I wonder which is cheaper, the electricity bill for the chair or those fancy poisons...

Exactly, why have an issue with it when the Electric Chair was a lot worse back in the day?

I don't think it matters how you kill them. They shouldn't be in here if all they do is evil, we need more good then evil, which seems impossible now a days.
