(CBS) – The teenage son of Mayor Rahm Emanuel was the victim of a robbery outside the mayor’s Lakeview home Friday night, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

Police were called to the 4200 block of North Hermitage at 10:05 p.m. Friday for a report of a robbery on the street where there would normally already be a police presence.

The Sun Times reports that Zach Emanuel went out to make a phone call when he was jumped by two men who stole the teen’s cell phone. He suffered a fat lip and chipped tooth, according to the report. A Chicago Tribune report also identifies the victim as the mayor’s son.

A Chicago Tribune report also identifies the victim as the mayor’s son.

Police could not confirm the victim’s identity other than that it is a male juvenile.

Kind of confused here. The article link says it happened across the street. How does the Chicago Tribune know it was the mayor's son but the police don't? Am I missing something here?
