China zoo officials say bear is not a human in a costume

Human or bear?

No, she's not a dog. Or a black bear.

She's definitely not a person dressed in an animal costume. At least her caretakers say so.

Her name is Angela, she's a Malayan Sun Bear at The Hangzhou Zoo and she's clapping back at critics after photos and video of her standing on her hind legs – and looking suspiciously human – have the internet questioning her identity.

In a statement written from the perspective of Angela, officials from the zoo in Eastern China responded to the rumors Sunday, denying she and her fellow zoo bear companions are human imposters.

Chinese zoo denies its sun bears are humans in costume. The internet is not so sure.

"Let me emphasize again: I am a sun bear! Not a black bear! Not a dog!" officials from the zoo wrote as Angela the sun bear in a post.

When I saw this pic, it just struck me as a costume....mainly the wrinkles at the butt-line. The picture is so fuzzy, it's hard to really distinguish, but I also think the feet could be questionable? I can ALMOST picture pants legs meeting black tennis shoes.

I think it's a person in a suit. xD It looks too uncanny and weird to be a real bear. Look at the wrinkles in the butt area when they're standing up! I think this whole debacle is hilarious.

I saw it and it made me search out more photos. The other photos show an emaciated bear, so maybe it's real? I don't know but it really looks bad.
