Chris P Bacon earns vet a book deal

A wheelchair-bound piglet called Chris P Bacon has earned the vet who saved his life a three-book deal.

The piglet, born with the congenital defect which means he can't use his back legs, was brought into Dr Len Lucero's veterinary hospital in Clermont, Florida, by his owner.

"A young lady brought him in, and she was just a wreck. She had this little pig that was one day old, I guess a farm where she worked they had found it and she wanted to save it," said Dr Lucero.

Dr Lucero fashioned a tiny wheelchair for Chris out of Meccano and video footage of him learning to master it made him a viral sensation on YouTube.

Dr Lucero said: "I've actually got a lot of people on our Facebook site, people with disabilities, and people who have got recent disabilities.

"And they said that this little guy right here has inspired them to give it their all. And that gives me the tingles in my arms every time I read something like that."

The piglet's story is now destined for the bookshelves, since Dr Lucero has signed a three-book deal of the life and adventures of Chris P Bacon.
