Harbin in China creates a massive city from ice to host its annual festival of snow sculptures.

The city in the Heilongjiang province in China first held its Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival in 1963, although it was interrupted for a number of years during the Cultural Revolution and only resumed in 1985.

The festival, which starts on January 5 and lasts for one month, is one of the largest of its kind in the world attracting thousands of tourists from across China.

The city is created by piling huge ice blocks into buildings, often with lights frozen in the middle of the blocks.

One has to wonder how safe that all is. (Slippery ice and all.)

It looks really cool (no pun intended), though!

It's really beautiful and I can't believe all the detailed work.
