Does anyone claim benefits? If so, what are they for? Unemployment? Disability? How long have you been claiming government support? Has COVID forced you into accepting financial help from the government?

No, I've never had to claim any type of benefit.

Not claiming anything right now and I'm not old enough to claim social security benefits. I need to be 62 for that.

The average benefit @62 would be $1, 300. Would that be enough for you to live on?

Can they withhold your SS benefits if you start working again?
No. You just have to be careful how much money you make by taking a part time job. As of 2013, when you get SS benefits between the month you turn 62 and the month you reach full retirement age, you lose $1 in benefits for every $2 you earn from working in excess of $15,120.

I have not tried it yet. Although I tried to claim the death benefits of my father, the local government agency is too slow to process it.
