Do you like reading classics or do you read modern literature? Well, I like reading classics, most of the authors I like reading are either dead or too old. It is not that I do not like modern literature but it is easy to access classic literature. Most of the time, when I grab a book by a contemporary writer, I feel like being cheated by the reviews.

Don't read the reviews, then.

I don't know if you consider Larry McMurtry 'modern' or not; but I think he writes some really good historical American West (western) novels. :)
Lonesome Dove for instance.
