Co-worker doing wrong

Ok well a co worker went home 2 hours early last night (for no good reason, just because he thought he could sneak out and get away with it). Somehow the main boss found out and called me today to question me about it. I told him that yes I did see him leave but I assumed that he was working a different shift that day or something which is why I didnt say anything to anyone.

Today the work ditching employee was a no show. I wonder if he got fired. I wish I could have covered for him but I didnt want to get in trouble and risk my job for lying to the boss.





What would you do in this situation?

One time I was accused of leaving early a couple years back. I was there, its just my car was in the shop that day. I think if they happen to drive by and see your car gone, they automatically assume you went home early. We dont have to clock in / clock out so these suspicions come up once in a while.

Probably going to take some heat here but....how do you know he went home 2 hours early for no good reason? Did he tell you that? I had a co-work leave during shift and found out later that there was an emergency at home and they had to leave. The only thing the co-worker did wrong was not call a supervisor first. The supervisor found out and wanted us to right up a report that we saw this co-worker leave. I told the supervisor that I was busy doing my job and didn't even know the co-worker left (lie).



I'm there to do a job and not to get involved other people's business.

I'd probably have done what you did. If other people are around to see you there, then there won't be an issue. If no one else is there, then that really sucks if you are assumed to be gone. Just curious, but do they have cameras where you work so that people are recorded entering/leaving?
