I notice on most forumotion powered forums they use color text for moderation. I find this sort of useless as it can just be done in normal lettering. Do you do this? Is it useful for you? Talk about the wonderful world of Color Moderation

Topic Started -> Thread opened

No need. Colored name, rank title & image, and forum leaders listed on the index. That should suffice.

If staff uses colored text, then it limits the members from being able to use it.

Nope.

We have hat's on our forums. Works fine.

It's eye candy. I've seen forums where people have their colour of moderation in their signature. If they close a thread, they'll say so. We don't need it in a pretty colour to notice.

They only do it because the staff on the Forumotion Support Forum do. And they do it so moderation messages are able to be more easily identified against normal messages.

As aforementioned, it'll be read the same way in normal colored text. Unless it's bold, underlined and italicized red. Then that'd be a reason to get scared.

No need simply because if the colored name and team icon didn't clue you in on them being staff and therefore necessary to listen to when they tell you to do something then nothing will.
