I have a compeer coming to see me tomorrow. A compeer is like a peer friend for people who have a mental health condition. I'm meeting him for the first time tomorrow.

He'll be coming from work.

I'd like to know since I'll be meeting him for the first time, how do I appropriately converse and use appropriate graces?

I hope you understand what I'm asking and thanks for helping me out.

It means a lot to me,

Andy.

Well if they're a peer friend I guess you shouldn't bee too formal

That's true, but what's some examples of the differences of being formal verses informal?

First name/last name, sir/dude... English is pretty informal to start with actually

Well I only know his first name so I can only call him by his first name. I don't think I'd call him sir since he'd be around my age.

Just be yourself and greet him like you would any other friend that you know.

When my friends come to visit, the first thing I ask if they would like something to eat or drink. Think of him as an old friend and you will be just fine.

What she said. He'll respect you even more by you being yourself.

Is it ok if I blog about my experience with this or should I keep this private between him and I? (I'm only talking about the initial meet).

I would think it's OK as long as you don't mention his name or just mention his first name.

Ask him permission first. Explain and talk about your blog and how you are trying to help others like yourself.

Well I met my compeer on Friday last week. It worked out great.

This Thursday, we're going bowling.
