Well today I was covering for someone this morning (2nd job).

The big boss from the main office came down to tell me that he has been very impressed with my work. He even took pictures and sent them off to his boss. After he told me that he said So there's another ruffle in your cape

I was like .....

Ok. Thanks! I appreciate the compliments.

I never heard that expression before but I think it means that its something else to boost my image of being a good worker.

Anyways its always nice to be appreciated. Made the rest of my day a whole lot better.

It really changes the way you look at your job, task, or whatever else you're doing, because when you know you're doing a good job, it motivates you to strike even harder.

Totally agree with jughead. That's the main problem with the place I work at.

It's always a wonderful thing to know that the hard work you do is appreciated

Thanks! Hopefully I will be able to get a day shift job there when one opens up. Currently I work 2pm-10pm (10 months out of the year) and Ive been trying to get on the morning shift (6am - 3pm) where I work full time but it seems to be impossible. Never any openings.. Haven't been in a few years. Nobody is even close to retirement either.

So, other than making extra money, Ive been subbing the morning shift elsewhere to hopefully grab a day time spot if/when one opens.

Working 2-10pm sucks because my daughter gets OUT of school when I am going IN to work. When I get OUT of work she IN bed sleeping. Which means I can only see her on the weekends. If I had a morning job we would both be on the same schedule and I could spend more time with her.

That's always a worthy thing to strive for.

It's great to be recognized for doing a good job. Keeps the moral up and makes you feel proud that all your hard work is appreciated.

I had a similar situation happen to me. I was a busboy at this Italian restaurant and the manager there was always giving me shit for everything. At first I thought he hated me because he would always critic my work and none of the other busboys' work even though I did a way better job then them. Well it turns out that he only focuses on the people he likes, which was me apparently. I gave him my two weeks notice and that's when he told me I was the best busboy he ever had. It really got to me. He was like I've never seen anyone take such a crappy job and make it fun and exciting like you did. He also told me that I was the first busboy that everyone liked. That's never happened before apparently. They liked me because I was hardworking and cared about what I did. Plus I made everyone else like coming to work, because of my positive and warming personality. Lmao that's what my manager told me so don't think I'm just bragging about myself... IDK it really touched my heart, so yeah I feel ya Nebulous.

Well I'm only 18 so yeah I'm just in it for the money. Trust me I don't want to be a busboy for a living.
