Here in New Zealand teachers are also severely underfunded and the Government responsible don't see a problem with it.That's the plan. They're demonizing teachers, cutting funding, and generally making the teaching profession unbearable to undermine public education so that corporations can swoop in with computerized learning that will serve children a healthy dose of propaganda to secure the stranglehold that the wealthy elites have over our so-called "democracy" (at least in the United States).
To them, that's the system functioning as intended. They believe that school should teach students how to be productive, obedient workers that vote to preserve the status quo. Here in New Zealand teachers are also severely underfunded and the Government responsible don't see a problem with it.
There was something on the news the other night with people saying they want school to start in the afternoon... It was the stupidest thing I've ever heard. To them, that's the system functioning as intended. They believe that school should teach students how to be productive, obedient workers that vote to preserve the status quo.
I hope there will always be actual teachers, but since teachers themselves are getting less and less interested in their work (seemingly), it does seem inevitable they will eventually be replaced entirely.
Violent and disrespectful classroom behavior has led to a staggering 50 teachers and bus drivers to quit a Florida school district in the last two years.
Brevard County School District, the state’s 10th-largest, held a heated meeting Thursday that offered an unvarnished and often disturbing glimpse into the state of its classrooms.
“On an everyday basis I am deflecting being attacked, scratched, headbutted, pushed, hit,” teacher Alicia Kelderhouse said as her voice choked with emotion. “I’ve had my hair pulled, and pulled down to the ground. I’ve had my throat gone for on multiple occasions. It’s on an everyday basis right now.”
Kelderhouse said staffers often commiserate in the morning to muster the courage to face the day — and that frightened kids are grappling with the same fears.
“I have students who are afraid every day in the classroom,” she said. “It’s just not fair to them. That’s what hurts my heart the most.”
The head of the district’s beleaguered teachers union, Anthony Collucci, recounted recent incidents reported by staffers to school administrators.
I don't know about that. My experience as a teacher during remote learning told me otherwise; many of my colleagues who taught older students had just as much trouble getting them to do it as I did with my elementary students...Older kids (middle or high school age kids) can do well with computerized learning but young kids NEED an actual human to teach them.
I am sure they had struggles with some of their students.I don't know about that. My experience as a teacher during remote learning told me otherwise; many of my colleagues who taught older students had just as much trouble getting them to do it as I did with my elementary students...
