I recently had one of my members vent to me about how he found our sites confirmation code to be tedious, of course, being a Zetaboard forum, we don't particularly get to choose exactly what images show up and which do not. I decided to look into it myself and whilst I found ours to be highly simplistic compared to others, I see why he thought that it was tedious, in ours, you have to watch a small ad video that will eventually display the code, the code is actually straightforward for us. But that doesn't mean throughout my time registering on forums, I haven't found a couple confirmation codes that made me want to inflict damage to the creators. It'd make things easier if I thought that it served a respectable purpose, the idea generally is to fend of spam-bots because they can't read the blurred images yet you'll find some to be incredibly easy, and others to be blurry and at times based upon guess, slightly displayed on the image above, but honestly, I've seen much worse, it was just the best one that I could find on Google to give an understanding as to what I mean. With that being said? What the hell is wrong with just having the easy ones all the time if it's enough to get the job done!?

These are examples of confirmation codes that you can with absolute easy configure the numbers and jot them down into the bar below yet if they get the job done why have the overly blurry crack-headed ones? Have you have any experiences with these? Do they piss you off and make you angry enough to stupidly attempt to have a bar-fight with Chuck Norris?

I hate those advertisment captcha's. I am forced to watch a commercial to get the confirmation code. It's a pretty desperate form of advertising I think.

We use re-captcha here & nobody seems to have any problems with it.

I found those that ZB uses annoying and therefore turned them off on my board. ZB is already effective on stopping bots from joining and posting without those annoying captcha images so I don't feel it's needed. I do realize that everyone else needs it so it's not so much I mind having to do it but at least make it readable for people. Some of them really make me wonder what they were thinking when they decided to use an nearly unreadable image for their spambot protection.

Those things can be so annoying... especially if you have to reenter your password if you get it wrong.

ReCAPTCHA's kinda nice, though, as you only have to get one right.

I hate those captcha things that you can barely make

out the letters or numbers. Those examples above

are quite clear compared to some I've seen.

Personally, I struggle with captcha codes sometimes. One forum actually banned me from trying to register, because every captcha code it showed I managed to get wrong. I typed them in correctly (as I saw them) but it still claimed I got them wrong. Add that to the fact most bots somehow bypass captcha now, there's no real point to it.
