A UKIP councillor for Henley-on-Thames has claimed the recent floods are due to Prime Minister David Cameron ignoring his warnings on legalising same-sex marriage.

David Silvester, who defected to UKIP from the Conservatives in 2012 over the issue, made the comments to his local newspaper the Henley Standard.

"The scriptures make it abundantly clear that a Christian nation that abandons its faith and acts contrary to the Gospel (and in naked breach of a coronation oath) will be beset by natural disasters such as storms, disease, pestilence and war," he said.

"I wrote to David Cameron in April 2012 to warn him that disasters would accompany the passage of his same-sex marriage Bill.

"But he went ahead despite a 600,000-signature petition by concerned Christians and more than half of his own parliamentary party saying that he should not do so.

"Now, even as Cameron sheds crocodile tears on behalf of destitute flooded homeowners, playing at advocate against the very local councils he has made cash-strapped, it is his fault that large swathes of the nation have been afflicted by storms and floods.

"He has arrogantly acted against the Gospel that once made Britain 'great' and the lesson surely to be learned is that no man or men, however powerful, can mess with Almighty God with impunity and get away with it for everything a nation does is weighed on the scaled of divine approval or disapproval."

The elected politician added: "Since the passage of the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act, the nation has been beset by serious storms and floods.

UKIP's official position is that it supports same-sex civil partnerships but opposes same-sex marriages.

However, a spokesperson for the party said: "If the media are expecting UKIP to either condemn or condone someone's personal religious views they will get absolutely no response.

Your thoughts on what he said?

Matthew 5 : 43 - 48 (NIV)

"You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Since the passage of the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act, the nation has been beset by serious storms and floods.

They would have happened regardless, its not a punishment.

What never heard such dripple in my life
And I agree I hope he not re-elected and the some with Cameron we want him out as well

Oh Lord, leave it to some Religious nut to put the blame on something else. Sounds like he'd fit right in with Westboro.

I wonder if the implication is the storms were caused by the simultaneous orgasms of thousands of gay people.
