How often do you check your credit report?

What is the best website for checking your credit report?

Do you believe the scores shown to you in your banking and credit card apps?

I don't really check my credit report all that much. I know there is a website where you can check it once a year for free.

I do check my credit score on all my credit card apps and bank app. Each one says a different number so I don't know who to believe.

I don't think I have actually check my credit report at all. I'll have to eventually to how it all works out for me.

I use Credit Karma which informs me of any changes and Experian and Equifax and I get my updates that way..

My scores are abysmal but they are getting better.. its not because of a shopping addiction, but because we moved in a lurch because our apartment was killing us both and we charged my ccs for the expenses related to it.. thousands of dollars and 9 months later, we got it done.

It will probably take me less time to pay it off than it did to accrue the debt..

Glad you got yourself out of that situation. Its a shame that it was not only draining your lifeforce but your finances as well. :(

Honestly I did not know we could afford to move elsewhere in this state. I didnt want to leave NY, just the city, and as expensive as the real estate is here, I thought that it would be just as bad elswhere in the state.

I mean my parents live in Long Island, and my house up here, would cost half a million there and I dont have the acreage they do. But even they are looking to leave since things got even more expensive out there.

But yeah, it took my brother moving up here and talking our ears off about how much cheaper it is up here and later on asking us to consider moving up here before we learned about how much better it is up here.

Honestly, if we knew then what we know now, we'd have moved sooner..

Glad it worked out for the best. Are your jobs still where you used to live or did you relocate those too?

My husband ended up working for BlackRock for about 10 years before he found a better job at another company. His interview went very well and they were set to hire him to be assigned at a construction company in Queens.

That didnt pan out too well, because the Covid shit hit the fan, and as you know construction and other infrastructure industries were hit first. And he couldn't go back to BlackRock because he had already handed in his 2 week notice.

But what ended up happening was that they called him back for another position answering IT calls and helping with that and he'd be WFH until the Covid restrictions were lifted. So he took that job and it was about that time that we started talking seriously about moving Upstate, and we decided that if his job was a permanent WFH position, that we could easily move and he wouldnt have to worry about commuting anymore, which would be a blessing since we were in the throes of Covid.

3 months after he was doing the call center job, someone who had a permanent WFH position left the company because he moved to Vegas (I guess it was better pay) and as soon as that position opened up, he took it and that was the sign we needed to make this move. It was like all the dominos were lined up. So now, he WFH as a employee of the company (not contract like at BlackRock, or as the construction job would've been) and at the same rate they would have hired him had Covid not hit when it did.. so he basically gets paid well more than he should for a call center, with benefits but also from home.

I check it every month when I pay off my credit card.

I wouldn't say there's a best one, but just make sure you're looking at accredited ones.

Not necessarily as they can differ between various apps, but I believe it's relatively close.
