Have you ever traveled to someplace dangerous? Sketchy areas of a foreign country that may not be so safe for tourists?

Is it worth visiting places you may not be 100% safe in just to say you've been somewhere new?

If the govt tells me I shouldnt go somewhere because its dangerous to Americans, then more than likely I wont be going. Like I'm sure the beaches in Mexico are nice and all that but I'm not risking being kidnapped by the gang cartels.

I haven’t traveled much, and when I have, it’s usually been to visit family overseas, so I’ve never gone to dangerous places. The destinations are familiar and safe to me.

I think it depends on what someone wants out of a holiday any place can be dangerous, even where we live. But yes, there are some places in the world that are best avoided if you’re not someone who seeks out risky adventures.

No, I haven't and IMO that'd be insane, not worth it.

That is certainly true!
I swear that one of my kids is a natural-born dare devil. She has chosen to spend time for work in Equatorial Guinea; a friend of mine said that she would not let her daughter go anywhere that she could not pronounce the ruler of the country's name. (Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo). Also Thailand, Qatar, S. Korea, and Afghanistan.
And....she's still kickin'!! :yahoo:

As long as someone knows what they're doing and is familiar with the place and what to avoid, it should be fine. I’m sure your kid knows all that, especially if they’re going for work.

Your friend might have a hard time traveling if she struggles with pronouncing names.... :p especially since the one you mentioned seems pretty easy to me!
