How would you define poor? Is it the state of having little money? Being on the streets? Having few clothes to wear? Etc. Come up with your own definition.

I believe poor is when you have nowhere to go and nowhere to live, despite your efforts to make a living. Again, let me emphasize on effort, because some people are poor because they choose to be poor by not contributing any true effort to succeed in life or to at least get by.

I'm poor. I dont own a house (I rent), I have a crappy car, I buy all the off brand stuff when I go grocery shopping, I have debts built up.. etc etc..

I'd say anyone who is not comfortable or anyone who is not living paycheck-to-paycheck is not poor.

In comparison to wealthier individuals who set high standards of living, sure, you could consider yourself poor, but in reality if you compare yourself to the world as a whole, you're not close to being poor in my opinion. You have somewhere to live, you have a car, and you aren't on the streets starving. In addition, you have a paying job, regardless of the pay or the job, at least you have one despite the economic conditions. Honestly, I believe we all take the simplest things for granite and consider them as necessities and not luxuries, when indeed, running water and quick food, are considered luxuries in some parts of the world.

Poor to me is without food, shelter, clothing, and money. Also having no friends or family you can ask for help.

Erhm...

Lacking the means to (want to) live a somewhat decent life would be poor I suppose.
