I was/am having problems with this one person at work. Her attitude and demeanor towards me was quite unpleasant. I decided to just deal with it for a while and hope it blows over. It hadn't done. I went into work today and the manager happened to be working. She took me aside and told me that a couple of girls have reported my attitude. This came as a complete surprise to me. Anyway, I explained that I was having problems with their attitude and we talked over a few things and hopefully it should all be sorted out by now.

It's not like I'm a bad worker. I had a customer just today compliment me saying you make an excellent salesperson. Sure, I'm still the new guy and still don't know how to do everything, but I'll get there eventually.

How do you deal with difficult coworkers at work?

Sounds to me like someone's trying to get you fired. And in general, I just try to deal with a difficult co worker as best I can.

How do I deal with it? I confront the person and ask what their problem is. If I can't get an answer, I ask for a meeting to be set up with the manager. Both parties sit down (with the manager acting as a mediator) and hash it out. I've done this several times and it has helped clear the air and it also lets the person with the attitude problem know I'm not going to put up with their crap. The longer you wait in hopes that things will blow over the worse they become. Nip it in bud (as the saying goes) before things get so bad that you are the one who ends up getting fired.

Hopefully having spoke with the manager has sorted it all out. I guess only time will tell. If it persists, there is no doubt I'll be going back to the manager.

Hope is has gotten sorted out. Makes it very unpleasant to have to work in conditions like that. Did you ever find out what the problem was to cause this in the first place?

No I don't know what their problem with me is (or was). However, after speaking to the manager, she has let me know that she plans on getting me to work more hours at another store they own. I actually prefer the other one over my 'home' store, so it's a win for me at least.

Sounds good to me! Are you the only male working at the current location?

No, but I am often the only male working at that given time.

It only happened once to me (I don't exactly have that much experience yet). I was quite shy at the time and this person felt like he could mess around with me. Little did he know that we all knew that he was stealing food from the store. I eventually just told the manager and he got fired. Being a snitch wasn't my finest hour, but I had put up with enough of his crap.

I have several difficult Co workers. I avoid them or I am fake nice to them when communication is unavoidably necessary.
