I was on a forum earlier and noticed there was an announcement in the Forum Games section. It said: "Post count for this section is disabled and you know why. It's just common sense."

To me, it didn't make any sense. A post is a post.

What do you think?

If a forum games section has nothing but a bunch of counting threads, then it should be disabled. If some of the games have some substance and require more than a single number in the replies, then enabling post count is fine if you ask me.

Ive seen some forums disabling post counts in Introductions and General Discussion forums too. Now thats just weird.

Personally, it doesn't matter. I've been on forums where your own post count, and those of others, isn't displayed at all. I think it's good for stopping people who post just for the sake of posting.

Forum Games sections for me = Spam sections.

I don't agree with games sections having post counts, people spam they're way up the ranks and think they are better than others because they've acquired 10,000 in a few weeks. I've seen this on many forums.

That annoys me, But for other sections, I wouldn't care if all post counts are disabled. I'm at forums for the community not post count levels.

If anyone wished to flaunt their high post count after gained it from forum games then I will simply point out that for all your effort, you would not be missed for a second as what makes a member special is not their post count but what they contributed to their community through the sharing of who they are with others.

I never saw the point in disabling the ability to gain post count as it would get you nothing so it doesn't matter to me hence why no reward comes from gaining any specific amount of posts on any board I owned in the past.

Some people just like to brag, or consider themselves better than newbies. But if their post count was predominantly in forum games/spam sections, they really wouldn't have a leg to stand on because their low count would show that while they've been here a while, they don't really provide much contribution to the better topics and discussions.

Forum Games are For Fun, but it is a Spammy section, so sections like this should have the post count disabled to avoid having a Forum with a huge post base of Spam.
