When its time to get rid of an old computer, how do you dispose of it?

Do you wipe or remove the hard-drive before? If you remove the hard drive what do you do with that? Smash it with a hammer?

I remove and destroy the hard drive, yup! with a big hammer.

I remove the drives of course. I also remove ram and CPUs. Anything with gold on it. I have a guy that buys all of that stuff.

Same here!

How much do you get for it?

In the past I've just thrown the whole tower in the trash. I'm paranoid so I'll throw the destroyed hard-drive away on the next weeks trash pickup so the computer and drive aren't together. :P

I just keep them as spares... they're all laptops, so they don't take up much space!

Call the company that collects electronic waste & hand it over to them for ecological, environment-friendly disposal.
