Do opposites attract?

Is it common for people who are polar opposites to be romantically attracted to one another?​

Do you think two people with completely different interests and attitudes get along?​

It is thought that one personality balances the other with different backgrounds and experiences forming the basis.​

Probably an exaggerated example, but like in movies where the good girl brings direction and sensitivity to the bad boy and the bad boy brings adventure and empowerment to the damsel.​

What do you think, do opposites attract? Or are relationships better when people are exactly alike.​

Depends. My mom and dad are quite different in their own ways, yet they've been married for 18 years.



I think some similarities are I guess required, whether that would be interests, view on politics/religion, etc. or maybe even something smaller than that.

My parents are quite different too. One was the athletic type and the other was the academic type. I guess they valued something similiar like hard work, success, etc.



But yeah I understand what you're saying.

I think it makes things more interesting when people are opposite. If you are with someone who is exactly like you, you are going to get bored quick.

I think there needs to be a balance of opposite and things in common. I am attracted to men with a sense of humor, a sense of compassion and a love of animals. I could never date a guy that didn't have these three attributes.



For a couple to have everything in common would (IMO) be impossible. There are always things that one person is into and the other isn't. Working together, they can start to appreciate what the other is into and share that interest. On the other hand, if a couple have absolutely nothing in common, I don't believe this would work. I know it wouldn't work for me.
