Do Westerners also love Hello Kitty?

I spend a few minutes watching and playing Hello Kitty things as native Asian person. I'm wondering if friends from the West have heard of Hello Kitty and other kawaii (cute) Japanese things?

I think a lot of people definitely know about Hello Kitty. Kawaii things are definitely popular although not exactly mainstream over here.

I have heard of Hello Kitty but it's not a big fad where I live.

Some of the women I went to high school with had shirts and back packs way back when. My girlfriend likes Hello Kitty. We visited a store in Las Vegas and she got a few things there. My daughter doesn't seem to really care for it though.

Hello, Kitty is always the talk of the day, Hello Kitty is always been mentioned around me Even just for jokes. I never get into it though - NOT ME

I think Hello Kitty merchandise are so cute. There is a show around this though right? All Sanrio characters are adorable in my opinion. Chococat was my favorite as a kid.

I am not sure if they are fan of watching this. I guaranteed that most Japanese people love this character. It will be more being watched in this country.
