Do you use your desktop computer during a thunderstorm?

Growing up I was always told by my grandmother that if we were in the middle of a thunderstorm, to not use the computer. Ever since I never use my desktop computer during a thunderstorm. My computer is also by a window, as it was the most convenient place to set it up at so I especially don't want to be near the windows when a storm is rolling through. It would suck if you were using your computer and the power went out, or even worse there's a power surge and it fries something in your computer! I actually had a power surge ruin my cable box a few years ago, it also fried my Playstation Mini...

Yes. Most of the time I don't even know it's even storming.

I don't own a desktop computer anymore, I've moved on to laptops (or my phone) exclusively for the better part of a decade now.

I straight up take my laptop out on the balcony when it storms though, I love storms.

It's probably not a good idea...for a desktop anyhow.
Thunderstorms are pretty uncommon here, but we do get them & I do use the computer during a storm. Occasional power outages are not exactly rare, and the computer is plugged into a surge protector...........so, I HOPE that will work if/when it's needed.
Good advice from your grandmother, though; I think lightening strikes have been known to come through power lines, and even hard-wired phone lines with frightening results.

Nope. Power tends to go out when there's thunderstorms so I would hate to be in the middle of doing something then lights out.

Yes, but the power in my area tends to be problematic during storms, so it doesn't always go well.
I SHOULD use a UPS, but it is what it is... modern computers are fairly resistant to sudden power loss.
