Do video games, tv, and music influence violent behavior in people?

well i think yes some times

I think some more mature video games can influence a young person who doesn't know what he is doing.

Media, sure. Very accessible by the general public, and if you hear one thing enough you're going to believe it.

Violent behaviour...a lot of TV shows and movies glamourise violence, but I reckon it's up to parents and guardians to watch out for their kids if the kids themselves can't figure it out. With the internet, it's hard to censor by age anymore, but violent behaviour depends on a lot more than a video game.

I say only if you watched/played them from a very young age. Because that'll rub off onto you on how to act instead of how NOT to act.

It could but if you think back in midevil times, people could kill each other all they want with no consequences most of the time and they did it all the time.

Sure, if you are an idiot who can't tell the difference between what's real and what's fake, and your parents are too lazy to teach you right from wrong. I think that if anything, the media had enabled us to become desensitized by it.. which is bad because then if they were to witness a violent act, such as a beating, rape, etc.. then they will like do nothing to help the victim (such as the case with the beating death of the honor student in Chicago) or they just think of it as no big deal (like those teens who jump someone, film it, and then upload it onto youtube.)

Regarding video games, I'll say this. The ratings are there for a reason. If the parent is too lazy, or too stupid to look at it, and inquire as to what the game is about and WHY it got that rating, then you relinquish your right to say anything..

Maybe is a kid plays GTA a lot they'll have more violent thoughts and possibly do something wrong because of that, but the whole thing is, why let a child play the game if you think he/she will be influenced by it.

Say someone plays a game, or watches a violent movie, then goes out and kills someone, that person is an idiot, they would have done it anyway regardless of what was in a movie or game because I watch violent movies sometimes and guess what, I'm not any more violent then I was before.

To put it simple: People are idiots regardless of the media.

Very true. As I was saying above, they were violent before there even was any media. Sadly its human nature.

Unfortunately yes

The media has an influence on everyone about everything....As long as the media says it it is true! you can't argue with that! People believe whatever the News says! The news arent always right

People are idiots because of the media. Most of the time the media influences people who are on either side. They normally help them get on one side, or the side that the media is favoring.
