Donald Sterling is doing much more than just apologizing in his exclusive interview with Anderson Cooper. The L.A. Clippers owner is speaking out publicly for the first time since recordings of his racist remarks led to a lifetime ban from the NBA.

Wow, this guy's a piece of work. :s

Your thoughts?

I think people give way too much power to words and the sissified whiners who got their feelings hurt over Sterling's comments need to pull their big boy pants up and realize that the world isn't always fair and doesn't have to bend to anyone's wishes. And the idea that the NBA wants to force Sterling to sell his team is so un-American it makes my teeth itch. This whole situation is over someone's hurt feeling about WORDS. It's ridiculous. If I had to take action of some kind every time someone said something I didn't like, I'd have to spend my entire life whining about it.
Get the hell over it and move on with your lives.

While I can understand your opinion, and I can understand a lot of what you are saying about it being him merely saying something that people didn't like. I also understand that the right to freedom of speech doesn't magically make you impervious from backlash. He said something offensive, and he was documented for having said something offensive before that. This isn't the first time, and the fact is that if you are the employer for a sport with a lot of black people and you insult them as a race. Chances are that you will face some repercussions to your prejudices.

You kind of see why this guy is in the situation he's in. The stuff he said about Magic Johnson was unwise and Adam Silver had to (again) cover for his ignorance: http://www.nba.com/2014/news/05/12/silver-responds-to-sterling/

I don't think the idea of "un-American" applies when sponsors were pulling out and players were planning to boycott. It would have been catastrophic for the NBA.

"Un-American"? Really?

Think about a racist owner known to harass blacks and Latinos. Both of these races are a majority of the Los Angeles population. It would make a difference to see if any black and Latino NBA fans boycott Clippers games, wherever the team may roam.

Pardon the relevant Bible quote.

But it does seem to be VERY true.

Matthew 12 : 33 - 37 (New International Version)

“Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

And today we can add if we were so inclined:

"... and by your words you will be forced to sell your basketball team."
