Double standards in body shaming

We've noticed a new trend in the United States where calling an overweight woman 'fat' is considered body shaming, while men may experience body shaming for various reasons, such as their height or body hair. This raises questions about double standards in society. Why is it considered impolite to say 'You are fat'? Women often feel comfortable calling a man 'fat' but may become upset if they are labeled the same way. Is it fair to suggest that some women may struggle with accepting responsibility for their own actions or lifestyle choices? It's interesting to observe that some women may aspire to have a larger body size and find it attractive, yet they react negatively when someone refers to them as 'fat.' What's the underlying issue here?

If I, as a man, choose to wear a pink dress and express myself in a way that might be considered more traditionally feminine, I understand that some people might label me as 'gay.' However, I don't let this bother me. xD

No one should shame anyone no matter what it is either it is a man or woman. , If you are close, you can point out in the best way your concerns but a stranger not.
Double standards exist and that is what i hate the most ... I am not a man but i can understand this.... been most of my life underweight (not now I am average in weight, still people see my as skinny while i fall on the average weight ) i heard so much about it and the most disgusting comments ever and no one moved an eye .

I have realized that you can't change anyone even if voicing concern about their weight. People have to want to change for themselves and shaming them only causes them to not want to change. If anything, shaming them only pushes them away.

I agree shaming not the way to help someone .

The worse shaming is for what you can not change .... and one is about height and yes men get that a lot. Woman can be bad too toward men that for sure

Why would it be considered gay? Gay men don't typically wear dresses to the best of my knowledge, but there's nothing wrong with it if they did.

As for double standards and judging appearance, absolutely they exist, though it tends to swing more in the other direction, with women being judged for appearance and weight far more than men. Vicious appearance-based judgement is never far away for trans women, either.

In fact, there are bi and straight crossdressers. The idea that a cisgendered male wearing women's clothing is a gay thing is actually an incorrect stereotype. Trans and enby is, of course, a whole other ballgame again.

Precisely! Drag and cross-dressing aren't exclusive to gay men or closeted trans women. People do it because they want to and there's nothing wrong with it.

Trans and enby are definitely a different ballgame there, I can confidently say as a trans woman :)

You'd be surprised, but some women actually like getting their boyfriends to dress up in lady clothes.

Agreed. This discussion reminds me of when Cloud did do drag for Tifa and Aerith in FF7.

Exactly, he did it, no issues! Sort of :D

People have created several systems that have enabled them to the point where they care too much what the other person is doing whether it's a man or woman.

Is it possible for a natural eunuch to father a child?

Sadly, there will always be a double standard for everything, solely because people suck. A man can say "I don't want to date a fat chick" and he's an asshole. Meanwhile, a woman can say "I don't want to date a short guy" and she is PRAISED for it, with comments like "it's a preference, she can have it!" So guys aren't allowed to have a preference of dating skinny girls?
