So did you finally get to see what you wanted to see? I know a lot of people were waiting for Fallout 4 news and more information about whether The Last Guardian was still in production.

New mass effect wasn't really a surprise but still nice to hear.

Looking forward to tonight, Arenanet will unveil the guild halls we're getting in the guild wars 2 xpac.

I think my two biggest and most favorite reveals were definitely the FFVII remake announcement and Uncharted 4 footage. I'm sure I'll pick up Deus Ex and Assassin's Creed, The Division for sure and possibly Star Wars Battlefront, and Final Fantasy XV as well as FFXIV Heavensward.

World of Final Fantasy is the only thing I really care about. FFVII was trash, a remake won't change that. Kingdom Hearts started out dull and got progressively worse. I don't have a Nintendo console, nor do I own a PS4 or Xbox One. Don't care enough about Fallout to be excited for 4, considering my favourite was New Vegas and all. Dark Souls 3 will only be worth it if they stop pussying about and actually make it difficult.

I beg to differ about FFVII. It's one of the most popular releases then Square at the time developed. It gets a lot of shit because of its popularity, but that's not to say it's perfect. It's totally not. It's my favorite of the franchise and a favorite for a lot of other people, too, and that's why it got such a response when it was announced. That being said, I didn't like FF9, FF10, FF10-2, FF13 or any of its sequels/prequels either. You just like what you like and vice versa. Not gonna say the other ones are trash because I didn't find them all that entertaining, well-written, and meaningful.

The main reason the game was hyped up initially was due to it being 'the first 3D RPG' on home consoles, or because it was the first game in the series a lot of people played (because VII was the first FF released in Europe), or a tumult of other reasons that are generally nonsensical or coloured bright pink by their rose-tinted glasses. It's far from the best RPG of that era; I wouldn't even class it as the best RPG that year. Azure Dreams and SaGa Frontier (also a Square title) blew it out of the water for me, and that only got pushed further by the later releases of games like Legend of Dragoon, Threads of Fate, Grandia, Xenogears... I could go on.

FFVII's art style was passable at best (seriously what was with the shitty overworld sprites?), the main plot device was dull, and most of the fights were winnable with the attack command alone, boss fights occasionally needing a limit break or two. The hardest part of the entire game was breeding a gold chocobo for KotR, and that was just underwhelming.

And it just gets worse when you bring in the extra shit they added with Last Order, Crisis Core, and the other two that were Japan-only cellphone games (seriously, if you're going to tie parts of a series' story to something don't make the integral pieces unavailable to 90% of your audience, that's just shitty marketing)

It's only a favourite for the franchise because they know what sells, and that there are millions of people out there ready to suck Sakaguchi's wang.

Lol, bolded and my point exactly. They know what sells meaning they know what people like and will eat up. As much as you want to knock it down as being trash, there are millions of people who would disagree with you. And vice versa. For instance, I dislike Call of Duty and Battlefield games, but I can at least recognize the work that's put into the franchise and the fact that it has so many fans. Activision must be doing something right to be raking in all that dough.

Final Fantasy VII not for everyone. I'll agree though that it isn't the best RPG. Honestly, I feel like Xenogears was overall a much better-told story, which that one came out a year after FFVII. However, the fact remains that the reason why it's so popular and so beloved is simply because it tells a good story with interesting character development over the course of the game. Let's take another beloved video game released not too long ago by Naughty Dog. The Last of Us was a huge hit not because of its innovation in the genre. How many zombie games have we seen so far the last 3-5 years? More than I can count on my fingers and toes, but look at the reception it got. It's regarded as one of the best-told stories in the industry. That's not to compare FFVII to The Last of Us. After all, the story telling is quite different as are the characters. But that doesn't stop either one from having its well-deserved respect.

You obviously don't agree with its millions upon millions of Final Fantasy VII fans and that's perfectly fine. No one's saying you have to or you're wrong for having that opinion. I just think back to the INSANE reaction that was had across the entire press conference, the internet, and within myself when it was announced. Hell, there was even big hype when it was teased with that short demo a few years ago. Now the many, many fans are getting what they've been wanting for well over a decade and a half and I know personally that I cannot wait.

Looking forward to Gears of War Ultimate and Gears 4 next year. Also 360 back compatibility is nice. And new Hitman!
