A previously unheard voice recording of the popstar sounding dazed and disorientated has been played in a Los Angeles court on the opening day of the manslaughter trial of his doctor Conrad Murray.

Opening statements in Dr Conrad Murray's trial began with prosecutors airing a recording of a groggy and seemingly drugged Michael Jackson just weeks before his death.

Deputy District Attorney David Walgren told the jury that the message was retrieved from the mobile phone of Dr Conrad Murray.

Recorded in May of 2009, a barely audible Jackson can be heard talking about his planned 'This Is It' tour. According the prosecution, the 50 year-old was under the influence of the anesthetic propofol, the drug that eventually caused his death, at the time.

Mr Walgren used the recording to contend that Dr Murray should have ceased administering propofol to the pop singer long before his death.

What happened during that time frame is that the acts and omissions of Michael Jackson's personal doctor Conrad Murray directly led to his premature death at age 50, he said.

The prosecutor added that Jackson had trusted Murray as his physician.

Mr Walgren said: That misplaced trust in Conrad Murray cost Michael Jackson his life.

Question: What are your thoughts after listening to the recording?

What I think is that, if Jackson was self administering (it's not proven/unproven yet), then the Dr should have taken more steps in ensuring that the drugs weren't lying around and made sure that he couldn't get a hold of any more and help him/send him to hospital. Not turn a blind eye, and let all this happen.

After listening to the recording, he was certainly on something. Whether is be propofol or alcohol, he was on something.

Fun fact: If you add two methyl groups to the structure of Propofol, then it stops the build up of static electricity in Jet fuel when pumped
